Goethe's FAUST is a classic tragic play, telling the story of a wager between God and Mephistopholes (Satan), who wishes to tempt the central character, Faust, away from righteousness.
Excellent read. I'm a novice at reading and understanding this type of writing. After about 100 pages, I got the hang of it.
Amazing how Goethe can take a thought and crunch it down to a word or sentence.
